Filippa & Olivier- NYC Wedding Photographer/Vieques Destination Wedding

I enjoyed every single minute of the days I spent on the little island of Vieques, Puerto Rico! I wasn’t surprised at all to learn that it won “Best Island in the Caribbean” by Travel & Leisure Magazine! Walking on the beach, lounging by the pool, wild horses walking with me down the street, and a magical wedding between a beautiful couple and their wonderful families made this my favorite weekend of 2012 so far! Filippa’s family is from Sweden, Olivier’s family is from France, and their friends traveled from all corners of the world to this gorgeous island to celebrate with them. I highly recommend a trip to Vieques if white sand beaches and tranquility are what you’re looking for… and even more so if you’re looking for a quiet Caribbean island for your wedding! The bride loved it so much, she actually bought a house here a couple years ago, and now she and her new groom rent it out as a vacation home when they’re not enjoying it! Becca & Ty-NYC Wedding Photographer

On a rainy Thursday morning in February, I headed downtown in a taxi with a special bride who was meeting her sweetheart at City Hall in New York City. It was a casual morning getting ready, although excitement was definitely all around us. I’ve always wanted to shoot an intimate city hall wedding, and what better chance than for my friend Becca Thorpe, and her beau Tyler Fransen. I met Becca about 9 years ago while we were modeling, and she’s the one who actually introduced me to my fiance, which is a story for another day! Ha! This last year has brought about lots of big changes in Becca’s life, like the fact that the modeling world has lost one of their best, as she is now the head booker of the new plus board at the prestigious Muse agency. But the best change by far is the one I’m sharing with you below! I was so happy to have been a part of this awesome day! I even got to sign the marriage certificate as the witness! As if I didn’t have enough proof with all these photos that this wonderful day did in fact happen!!! With just a few close friends, the day was the perfect celebration of this couple’s commitment to each other and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. Their reception lunch was at Brinkley’s in Soho, complete with a first dance, and the biggest cupcake you’ll ever see! The day couldn’t have gone any better… except for the fact that we forgot her cute little bouquet in my fridge!! Ayayay!:)Becca & Ty, it was a pleasure capturing this special day for you, and my wish for you is that you’ll always be this happy for the rest of your lives, rain or shine (see what I did there?!:)). Congratulations to you and I can’t wait to share in all the good things to come from here!:)

Elissa & Matt-NYC Wedding Photographer

This amazing wedding happened just before the holidays, so I’m just getting a chance to blog it now! By the time you read this, I’ll be well on my way to Maryland (or maybe already there if you’re sleeping in on your Christmas vacation by now!) for a well-needed break with my loves! So… I’m happy to announce the final giveaway for the “5 Days of Christmassy Giveaways”! But first, let me just say that it means the world to me that so many of you have shared the featured businesses’ stories with your friends this week! Word of mouth is what makes small businesses flourish, so just talking about one you’ve heard about or any good experiences you’ve had with one means soooooooo much to us! So thank you!!!!

I think people don’t print out enough of their photos nowadays with everything done on a computer, so this is your way of getting the photos you LOVE in a cool collage on your wall! It could be your all time favorites, or a themed collage… your family, kids, holiday, etc. The 20×24 will fit about 15-18 photos, and you’ll have a week to send them to me so I can design the collage and have the print sent to you! Here are some photos below to see how I display mine in my home! I like the idea of leaning picture frames, not always hanging them on the wall! I met Holly Jean not long after she finished her makeup studies at the Makeup Designory (MUD) in Soho. She was referred by a friend and has since done the makeup for a lot of model tests I’ve photographed. Not only was she uber-fabulous at doing makeup & hair on the experienced models I was shooting from top agencies… but she was also such a sweet and calming presence to the new girls who haven’t been modeling long and were just thrown into the craziness that this industry can be! Thanks for always being so cool and up for anything Holly Jean! I know you’re going to go far in this business and it’s awesome to see how your faith grounds you and I really hope that it stays with you and you never let this industry change you! You are so perfect just the way you are.:)Here is Holly Jean’s story in her own words:

“I aspired to be a makeup artist since I first laid hands on a red lipstick at a dance competition at 10 years old. My passion for people tied in so perfectly with this magnificent dream I had. The hearts of each person I lay hands on daily inspires me to create beautiful art. Everyone’s features are different and can be changed uniquely to suit them. I’ve been working as a full time makeup artist in NYC for a little over a year now, working in the TV/Film, & Fashion Industries.
